 Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is used to prevent or treat low levels of vitamin C in people who do not get enough of the vitamin from their diets.

Pharmaceutical products: Suitable for use in pharmaceutical applications, where a European ASMF and CEP is accepted. Dietary

supplements: Suitable for use in dietary supplements with a lipophilic base, e.g., ointments, creams, oils, soft gelatin capsules, as well as in aqueous preparations, e.g., syrups, drops, tonics, and solubilizates in conjunction with a solubilizing agent, such as Kolliphor® EL, Kolliphor® RH 40, or Kolliphor® HS 15.

Food products: Suitable for the fortification of fats, e.g., in regular and low-fat margarine as well as in oils and fatcontaining foods, such as cakes, biscuits, and dairy products.
